March 14th 2009 was a turning point for St. CharlesCounty and the Cottleville community. It was the start of something that was truly needed and wanted in our area. It was also the start of something that can become a yearly tradition that gets better and better each year. Everyone keeps thanking and congratulating the Cottleville Firefighters, but it wasn’t us that made the 1st Annual Run for the Helmet, Irish Parade & Celebration a big success…it was you. It was the local business owner that sponsored the event. It was the mother that doesn’t run competitively, but brought her stroller and participated in the fun walk, just to be a part of the community. It was the employee that put in hours working on her company’s float for the parade. It was the competitive runner that decided to eat his registration fee that he already paid for the downtown run, just to stay and support a local cause instead. The thanks and congratulations are really owed to ALL OF YOU. Your Cottleville Firefighters just offered an idea and the community made it into something special. From our family to yours…THANK YOU.
