Active Image Firefighter Kyle Brownlow has been with the Cottleville Fire District since February 2000.   Kyle entered the fire service by accident in 1990.  He was attending North County Technical High School part time in the Public Safety class in hopes of following in his father's footsteps and becoming a police officer.  In this trade school, the Firefighter 1 class started Junior year and Law Enforcement was for the Senior year.  An old and wise firefighter, Bill Albright, saw potential in Kyle and recommended him for a ride a-along program at the Pattonville Fire District.  Starting his senior year, Kyle did a half day at the firehouse and half day at high school.  By the end of his first semester, Kyle was hooked.  He abandoned his dream of becoming a police officer and dedicated himself to becoming a firefighter.

He enrolled in the St. Charles County Ambulance districts’ EMT class and, coincidently, befriended some Cottleville firefighters at that time.  After passing the EMT class in 1991 and graduating High School, he attended St. Charles County Community College for a year.  Without having any luck gaining employment in the fire service, Kyle joined the United States Air Force in 1993 as a Firefighter.  He attended the Fire Academy in Texas and was stationed in Colorado Springs, CO and Guam.  After 5 years of service, Kyle returned to St. Louis where he enrolled in the St. Louis Community College paramedic program.  After graduation, he worked at Christian Hospital Northeast as a paramedic where he met his wife Kari.  They settled down in St. Charles. Shortly thereafter, Kyle learned that Cottleville Fire District was hiring new firefighters to staff their newly built Fire Station #4.  He applied and was hired in 2000.

Since joining Cottleville, Kyle has become a member of the Special Operations Task Force of St. Charles County, received his Fire Instructor 1, Fire Officer 1, Driver Operator and all heavy rescue requirements.  He stays active by serving on the district’s planning committee and overseeing the medical supplies for the district.  Kyle works out of Station 1 on Cottleville’s new 100’ ladder truck.
