Smoke Detector Checks
Wednesday, 05 March 2008

March 9th is right around the corner and that is the date for two very important tasks...cActive Imagehanging the clocks back an hour and changing the batteries in your smoke detectors. Everybody changes their clocks, but, unfortunately many people neglect the more important and potentially life-saving task of changing smoke detector batteries. While changing your batteries, be sure to make sure that your detectors actually work by pushing the test buttons, make sure you have at least one detector on each floor (preferrably one in each room) and replace any detectors that are 10 years old or older.

Active ImageTo assist residents with this task and to help ensure your safety, the Cottleville Firefighters are going to be out in the community offering free smoke detector checks. We will check the location and operation of all your detectors. In addition, we will provide free smoke detectors to anyone that is in need. If we don't have a chance to get by your house and you would like to have your smoke detectors checked, please call (636) 447-6655 for an appointment. A Fireman's Prayer
Monday, 14 January 2008

Active Image     A Fireman's Prayer

When I'm called to duty, God, wherever flames may rage

Give me the strength to save some life, whatever be its age

Help me embrace a little child before it is too late

Or save an older person from the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout

And quickly and efficiently put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and give the best in me

To guard my every neighbor and protect his property

And if, according to Your will, I am to give my life

Please bless with Your protecting hand

My childen and my wife.
