Firefighter of the Month-January |
Thursday, 03 January 2008 |
Firefighter Kyle Brownlow has been with the Cottleville Fire District since February 2000. Kyle entered the fire service by accident in 1990. He was attending North County Technical High School part time in the Public Safety class in hopes of following in his father's footsteps and becoming a police officer. In this trade school, the Firefighter 1 class started Junior year and Law Enforcement was for the Senior year. An old and wise firefighter, Bill Albright, saw potential in Kyle and recommended him for a ride a-along program at the Pattonville Fire District. Starting his senior year, Kyle did a half day at the firehouse and half day at high school. By the end of his first semester, Kyle was hooked. He abandoned his dream of becoming a police officer and dedicated himself to becoming a firefighter. |

~Install smoke detectors on every level of your home, including the basement, outside sleeping areas, and in rooms with space heaters. Put carbon monoxide detectors outside sleeping areas, and in rooms with a fireplace or stove, unvented gas or liquid heaters, or a furnace.

Sunday, 09 December 2007 |
Last Saturday (12/8) marked the 16th Annual Santa Day at Cottleville Fire District. Santa began the day in a parade through Cottleville, then ended up at Cottleville Fire Station #1 to visit with children. He was accompanied by two of his elves and two of his reindeer. There were a total of 249 children that saw Santa. Also on display were Cottleville Fire's 8712 Ladder Truck, Sparky the Fire Dog, an ambulance from St. Charles County Ambulance, and Cottleville Police Dept.'s Dare vehicle and dog. A helicopter from ARCH medical air services was scheduled, but couldn't attend due to inclement weather. Cottleville Firefighters donated 6 bicycles that will be given to six lucky children that had their names randomly drawn. Stuffed stockings, popcorn and cool-aid were provided by the fire district. Please enjoy the video!
